Obsessed With Velvet

This is honestly the best time of year to break out the velvet. With the holiday parties and New Years coming up, there are tons of excuses to update your velvet wardrobe. Even if you don’t have the budget to overhaul your wardrobe with velvet this season, a few new key velvet pieces can transform your everyday basics into something a little more festive.

I bought this gorgeous emerald velvet coat from The Kooples last year and it’s still my favorite cold-weather piece. It totally transformed my cami’s, skinny jeans, and boots that I wear every day into some a little different. Plus the emerald green is drop dead gorgeous.

Amongst The Palms

Fun fact: there’s only one native species of palm tree in Arizona, and it’s called the California fan palm. I have no idea why it’s not called the Arizona fan palm, but I guess that’s why I’m not in charge of important things. When you’re surrounded by dirt, rocks, and cacti all the time, seeing some palm trees is a little oasis in the desert.

I’ve been pairing a lot of graphic tees with my midi slip dress to be able to enjoy the ease of the dress while still keeping it casual. Hallow Collective was amazing enough to send me this All I Want tee all the way from the UK. They have some seriously killer graphic designs. Check them out.

Anyways, I paired this tee with a slip dress from AllSaints and some leopard print calf hair boots from Vince Camuto. I’m also wearing my new favorite hexagon frame sunglasses from Ray Ban. I couldn’t decide between round or square frames, so I opted for a shape that was kind of in between them.

Camo In The Desert

Camo has been a really big trend recently, and honestly, I’m here for it. Now, I’m not talking about camo Crocs that your 15 year old cousin in Michigan wears with his cargo shorts (Crocs are a fashion abomination). I’m talking about camo done in a non-tacky way.

I tucked my camo tee from Free People into a pair of cool studded skinny jeans from Levi’s. I paired it with some western-style booties from Jeffrey Campbell, a western belt from B-Low The Belt, and a snake print bag from AllSaints. That’s right. I’m mixing prints over here. Watch out.

For accessories, I opted for my trusty 70’s-style glasses that I actually need to see because I’m blind without them. I also went for my favorite dagger necklace from The Great Frog and some chunky rings. My dagger necklace is engraved, but they have a plain option as well if that’s not really your thing.
