The Monthly R.E.P.O.R.T. (January 2024)

I’ve decided I’m going to start posting a monthly R.E.P.O.R.T. after seeing something similar trending on Tiktok. I thought it could be cool to talk about things besides strictly fashion (don’t worry, there will still be plenty of fashion happening in these posts).

The Style Thesaurus by Hannah Kane

I was gifted The Style Thesaurus for Christmas and I love it. It covers a wide variety of styles, both niché and mainstream, and does a great job of showing how styles are related. Each style also has a little graphic about the fabrics, accessories, details, and color pallets associated with them. Whether you’re a fashion lover or just curious about different styles, it’s a really cool resource to have.

Eating/Drinking

Vegan miso soups

I got super sick around Christmas and the only thing that ever sounded good was miso soup. Naturally, I’m now on a miso soup kick. I’m actually considering ordering some as I type this.

While most ingredients in miso soup are vegan, some of them do contain fish products. Shojin (Culver City/Downtown) and Vegan Glory (Beverly Grove) have some of the best vegan miso soups in my area.

Playing

Chronicles Of A Diamond by Black Pumas

I’ve slowly been rebuilding my record collection after a breakup several years ago, and one of my latest editions is this album. This psychedelic-soul band already has six Grammy nominations under their belt, just from their first album.

Obsessing

Dark cherry red everything

It’s dark, it’s sexy, it’s dark cherry red and I’m obsessed with it.

Dark cherry was definitely trending online around the holidays, and with good reason. The color is sultry without going as dark as black. Saint Laurent, who is know for elegance with an edge, released several pieces in dark cherry last season. Other brands like Anine Bing have followed.

I’m personally not a huge fan of color in my closet, but I actually love this shade of red.

Recommending

Fluoride-free toothpaste

For literally an entire year, I’ve been struggling with perioral dermatitis. Mine was caused when I suddenly a bad reaction to a vitamin c product that I’ve been using for years. The product has since been removed from production, which is a little suspicious if you ask me….

While on my journey to treat it, I’ve learned that the fluoride in toothpaste can actually be one of the causes. Or in my case, can really cause it to flare up. So I’ve switched to a fluoride-free toothpaste.

I personally use Dr.Bronner’s All-In-One toothpaste, but there are tons of great options out there.

Treating

Agent Provocateur Lingerie

I was obsessed with Dita Von Teese and Joy Division in my college years, which lead me to Agent Provocateur. I found out that she had starred in the music video for Agent Provocateur’s over of Joy Division’s “She’s Lost Control”. After my application to work there was rejected, I decided I’d just wear them rather than sell them.

I already have a growing lingerie collection, and with Valentine’s Day coming up, I decided to treat myself to some new editions.
