So I went exploring up outside my usual neighborhood and ended up at this record store called Rhino Records in Claremont. Usually, I end up at Amoeba in Hollywood, but I couldn’t resist this shop. Being that it was not too far from the college, I figured that it wouldn’t have a decent selection. I was right.
Wool Hat Original Wayfarer Classic Vetten Tee (Similar) Biker Patched Pocket Jeans (Similar) Quiggy 2 Black Bootie My end-of-season sale pillaging has finally come to an end. While I’ve never been the biggest fan of spring/summer clothing, I’ll still definitely go after the end-of-season sales. If nothing else, spring/summer is great for buying basics and fun jewelry that may have otherwise been outside of your budget. I think most people who are into fashion can agree the fall/winter season has a much better selection, no matter what you’re style is. There are so many more options when it finally gets cold enough to layer clothing. Still, every layered outfit needs to start off with a great bottom layer, and what better bottom layer than a really nice basic tee that you got on sale?
Polarized Original Wayfarer Classic Short Kimino (Similar) T-SERRA-O Tee Faux Leather Legging (Similar) Ankle Booties (Similar) Laugh at me all you want. I’m wearing faux leather leggings to the beach. I don’t even care. School has already started for a lot of students so the beaches are already starting to clear up. Not that Venice is ever really not crowded. It’s just slightly less crowded with tourists. This is the first year that I haven’t had classes. I’m still at the point where I’m getting used to doing something other than going to classes all day Monday through Friday. Even though I was obviously an adult while in college, I’m actually starting to feel like one now that I’m not stuck in classes every day. It’s liberating to know that my classes have paid…
I am officially 22 and I got a tattoo as my present! Getting a new tattoo was definitely long overdue since I hadn’t gotten a proper one (other than a tiny random impulse tattoo) in about a year and I had been itching to get one for a long time.
Original Wayfarer Classic Satin Floral Bomber Ines Tee High Elasticity High-Wasited Jeggings Ankle Boots I’m so excited that I’ve already seen some fall clothing in stores lately. I think most people who are into fashion can agree that fall is definitely the nest season for fashion. There are so many layers you can work with and all kinds of options for amazing jackets and coats. There’s a reason why the fall issue of Vogue is an inch thick, right?
Original Wayfarer Classic Pebbled Vegan Leather Jacket Distressed Tee Biker Jeans Snake Booties As you can see from my last post, I really don’t like hot weather. And since I hate hot weather so much, I decided to go hide out at Venice Beach for the day and enjoy the ocean breeze in a leather jacket. Speaking of beaches, I ran into the awesome chain of boutiques called LF down in Orange County in Laguna Beach. Think Nasty Gal-meets-beachy vibe. They actually carry some really awesome brands and that’s where I spotted these awesome snake print Jeffrey Campbell boots in the window. I absolutely love the cut-out design of the boot heel.
Summer is already half over, but it’s been pretty brutal in Los Angeles. After dealing with random 100 degree heatwaves for weeks at a time, now the humidity has kicked in. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of summer. I like wearing jackets, lots of layers, and dark colors. This summer heat is definitely making it difficult to wear what I usually do. What I do like about this weather, though, is the fact that it brings all kinds of people outside. Everyone living in downtown lofts without a/c manage to venture outside, searching for relief in shady restaurants and cold drinks. Wandering around downtown forces you to escape the heat of your apartment and explore your city.
I’m not usually the biggest fan of dresses or skirts, but everyone should have a Little Black Dress in their closet. Pair that dress with a pair of sky-high floral velvet Jeffrey Campbells, and you have an outfit fit for walking down Sunset Boulevard. Sunset Boulevard has been the subject of many rocks songs, and it’s not really a mystery as to why. With iconic places like Seventh Veil, Rainbow Bar, and Whiskey-a-Go-Go, Sunset Boulevard has always been a hotspot for rockstars. While the hairspray and cocaine-fueled 80s glory days may have passed, the allure of the iconic street still remains for me.
Silverado, California hosted the eighth annual Born Free motorcycle show, and since it was fairly close to me, I decided I had to go. What I really like about Born Free is that it’s a motorcycle rally for the next generation of bikers – people currently around my age – and so it really appeals to me. There were lots of clothing and jewelry vendors that promoted vintage finds, handmade pieces, or custom work. While there were plenty of smaller companies as vendors, even the big companies had their owners working the booths and meeting people.
This sudden heatwave in LA is brutal. It has been over 100 degrees for the past three days. Normally, I love my skinny jeans and layered looks, but this heat has me turning to shorts. My legs haven’t seen the sun in a very long time, so they’re pretty blinding when I get in the sunlight. This heat also has me retreating to the coastal cities like Venice, where I have the relief of the ocean breeze.
