Summer Shopping List

With summer just around the corner, it's time to stock up on some summer items! While I definitely prefer the heavy coats and cozy layers involved with dressing for the winter, I've still found some cute options for summer dressing that won't leave you feeling bored with your wardrobe.

Dresses can be a tough one to tackle for the summer if you have an edgy sense of style or are used to wearing separates. Summer dresses tend to be light, flow-y, and feminine with floral patterns, delicate lace, and pastel colors. Even with an edgy sense of style, you can make these common summer dress elements work as long as they're done the right way. Even though these dresses are on the edgier side for summer dresses, you'll still see some florals and lace.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to shorts! Denim cut-off shorts are especially great at giving your summer outfit that little bit of edge. There are so many different cuts and colors for denim shorts that it's pretty much impossible not to find a pair that you love.

Eye protection from the sun is super important, especially in the summer. I personally wear sunglasses all year, even when it's cloudy, because my eyes are so sensitive to light. Sunglasses are a great way to wear something that's unique and statement-making without having to spend a ton of money. I've built up quite a collection of sunglasses over the years.

While I will be a boot girl until the day I die, sandals are definitely needed in the summer, especially if you plan on going to the beach, the pool, or on a vacation. My favorite sandals are Grecian-style, but I love slides for casual days and days at the pool as well. Even with my sandals I try and find a pair that suits my personal style so I don't have to feel like a mess if the heat really turns up and I'm forced to wear sandals on a day I was not prepared.
