Cruelty Free Beauty With Kapulet
Meet Kapulet: a cruelty-free beauty club that offers luxury brands at membership pricing. For an annual fee that ends up costing less than $5 a month - that's less than your frappuccino - you can get great name-brand products at a huge discount.
When Kapulet first reached out to me, I felt like the stars had aligned. I was desperately in need of some serious makeup replenishing, but after my trip to Arizona, I didn't want to spend a bunch of money at traditional makeup stores. As soon as I saw all of the products Kapulet offers, I knew I'd be hooked. Besides carrying makeup, Kapulet also offers hair treatments, skin care, shaving supplies, beauty tools, and more. They also carry men's products, making it easy to find something for my boyfriend while shopping for myself.
All of the brands Kapulet offers are cruelty-free and many are all-natural as well, so you can shop without guilt or having to do a bunch of research on different brands. While I received a lot of products by NYX, since I'm familiar with the brand, I also wanted to try something new with a brand I hadn't used yet.
I'd never used Caudalie before, but when I saw the Instant Detox Mask, I had to try it. The pollutants from the city can be brutal on my skin, so it needs a little love. The Instant Detox Mask is a pink mud mask that "draws out impurities and toxins from clogged pores". It also minimizes pores and refines the skin's texture, making it look smooth and flawless. The mask smells great, with a mixture of lavender, chamomile, and parsley. There is a tightening sensation when using it, like with most mud masks, but it's not overly-tight or uncomfortable. I could definitely tell a huge difference in my skin's texture after using this products and feel super soothed and refreshed.
I'd heard good reviews about the NYX V'amped Up! Lip Top Coat online, so I thought it was time to give it try. Basically, the V'amped Up! turns any lipstick shade you have into a darker, sexier, more vamp-y shade. It's creamy and semi-sheer, so it doesn't dry your lips out or just look like black lipstick. I wore it on top of Ulta's matte lipstick in Petal, which turned it into a more sexy burgundy color, closer to MAC's Diva. The V'amped Up! stayed on all night, even after a night of bar hopping, without needing to be reapplied. With V'amped Up! you've essentially doubled your lipstick color selection.
The trend for summer is a more natural, dewy finish instead of a blurred-out matte finish. This Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray from NYX does double duty by setting your makeup all day while giving you a dewy (but not greasy!) finish. To be honest, I was a little nervous about using the Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray on my combination skin thanks to my super oily t-zone, so I used my regular setting spray on my t-zone while using the Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray on my dry/normal cheeks. The spray did an excellent job of keeping my makeup in place all day and looked dewy without looking greasy. The Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray is great if you want that dewy finish and you have normal to dry skin, or have combination skin and avoid your oily areas (any dewy finish products are never recommended for oily skin). It's also great if you live in a drier climate and still want to look fresh and dewy.
Lastly, an eyebrow pencil was at the top of my list of makeup items I needed. Since I'm familiar with the brand, the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown seemed like the most logical choice. On one end, the Micro Brow Pencil has a spoolie brush to brush brow hair into place. The pencil itself is retractable, which is a bonus if you hate always having to sharpen your makeup pencils like I do. With short strokes it's easy to create natural-looking filled-in brows with the Micro Brow Pencil, but it's also pigmented enough that you can work outside of your natural brow hairs to create thick and sculpted "Instagram brows".
